Tri Star Marketing began as the Russell Stewart Oil Company in 1947. Russell G. Stewart, a farmer from Chenoa, Illinois began by concentrating his efforts on rural and commercial accounts. Slim margins and hard work were the company trademarks in the early days.
As the business began to grow, Russell incorporated retail gasoline stations into his operation to complement his rural and commercial trade. From the beginning, the service stations were known for high quality motor fuels and automotive services at competitive prices. To help establish themselves, the stations were identified with major oil company brands such as Texaco, Phillips 66 and eventually Gulf.
When Gulf withdrew from branded marketing in Illinois, Russell and Dean Stewart elected to drop their major oil company affiliation and market gasoline as an independent. Initially identified as Stewart Stations and Stewart Stores, the company currently markets under the trade name Super Pantry.
In 1989 the Corporation changed its name to Tri Star Marketing, Inc. to more effectively describe the diversity of our various operating divisions. In 1993, a partnership was formed with BP and Exon Mobil to exclusively market their branded motor fuels at all Super Pantry locations. The company has grown into markets in Illinois and Indiana through a first class chain of retail gasoline outlets and convenience stores. Today, with over 500 employees, Tri Star Marketing, Inc. continues to grow into the future.
